Test Organization
When it is time to take a test, it is a good idea to get organized. Go ahead and review early. This will give you an opportunity to realize what you do and do not know. You can plan your time so you can study those topics that you need the most.
It will help if you review a little every day. These short reviews will get you ready for the longer sessions right before the test. Make sure that you have read your textbook before lectures. This will help you understand what your instructor is emphasizing. Reading the assignment before class gives you a much better idea of what is important.
After a lecture, go ahead and review your notes as quickly as possible. This will help you identify areas that you did not understand and give you the opportunity to either talk with your professor or look up the answers yourself. It may help to study with a group of students from your class. Members of a group will point out material that you may have missed. Several people’s input will give a more comprehensive picture of what needs to be studied.
Make sure that you have reviewed in time to go talk with your professor in case you need help or guidance as to what to study. When you are reviewing, set specific time limits on your studying. It is better to study in smaller chunks of time than a long stretch at once. If you study when you are tired, you are not as likely to remember. Be sure to study the hardest material, or the material with which you are least familiar, while you are fresh and alert.
